Bournemouth Aviation Museum  A UK charitable museum dedicated to preserving and presenting operational examples of historic military jets.  The Museum occupies a 30,000 sq ft hanger at Bournemouth International Airport.

Brussels Air Museum Fund  The Association’s objective is the maintainenance, restoration, and promotion of aviation heritage, as well as national and international cooperation.  The Association helps all other associations having anything to do with its objective.  They are mostly active at the Royal Army Museum in Brussels, and they supported the Fieseler Storch and Voisin de Caters projects.

CAF Dixie Wing – Peachtree City, GA (FFC) – The Commemorative Air Force was founded to acquire, restore and preserve in flying condition a complete collection of WWII era combat aircraft. The Dixie Wing was founded on February 28, 1987.

Carolinas Aviation Museum  A nonprofit all volunteer museum in Charlotte, NC.  Featuring over 30 aircraft plus numerous aviation artifacts.

Cavanaugh Flight Museum  A non-profit 501(c)(3) educational organization devoted to promoting aviation studies and to perpetuating America’s aviation heritage.  The museum restores, operates, maintains, and displays historically-significant vintage aircraft, and collects materials related to the history of aviation.  They offer rides in two distinctive warbirds: the N2S-4 Stearman and the AT-6 Texan.  In Addison, Texas.

Chanute Aerospace Museum  This museum collects, preserves, exhibits and interprets aviation and aerospace artifacts that relate to the life and accomplishments of Octave Chanute, Chanute Field/Chanute Air Force Base and its technical training programs, the history of military aviation, and Illinois aviation.

College Park Aviation Museum  The museum tells the story of the College Park Airport (circa 1909) and the early days of flight.  The family-friendly museum has interactive exhibits and vintage aircraft.  Audio tour recordings (mp3) are available for downoad.  College Park, Maryland.

Combat Air Museum – Topeka, KS (FOE) – Topeka, Kansas (FOE). CAM volunteers are dedicated to the collection, preservation, conservation and exhibition of aircraft, artifacts, technology and art associated with US military aviation history.

Crash Research in Aviation Society Holland 1940-1945  This foundation recovers crashed aircraft from World War II.  They trace crew members or their relatives.  On display are the remains of aircraft and their story.  They also commemorate the Dutch resistance and the Dutch people that risked their lives when hiding jews for the Germans.

Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park  The park contains four separate sites: the Wright Cycle Company building and Wright brothers’ print shop building, Huffman Prairie Flying Field, John W. Berry, Sr. Wright Brothers Aviation Center which includes the 1905 Wright Flyer III, and the Paul Laurence Dunbar State Memorial.

Delta Heritage Museum  Serving the family and friends of Delta Air Lines by collecting, preserving, and presenting the history of Delta and its affiliated airlines in ways that are interactive, educational, and engaging.  Located at Delta Air Lines Worldwide Headquarters, 2.5 miles south of Atlanta, Georgia.

Dutch National Aviation Museum  The ‘Aviodome’ at Lelystad Airport with museum pieces demonstrating Holland’s aviation heritage, and a theme park flying two classic airliners.

Duxford Imperial War Museum  180 aircraft on show: biplanes, Spitfires, Gulf War jets, and historic aircraft.  The American Air Museum at Duxford and houses a collection of historic American combat aircraft.

Empire State Aerosciences Museum  Outdoor displays of restored aircraft and indoor displays of models, dioramas, and artifacts, including a mockup of the plane flown in Amelia Earhart’s ill fated flight around the world, and a replica of the von Pomer Pusher, an early example of powered flight.  Programs for youngsters include hands-on activities in model building, rocket construction and launching, and study of the principles of flight.  Offered for Adults are ground schools in preparation for the Private Pilot and Instrument Rating written exams required by the FAA for aviation certificates.  The library holds over 20,000 books, manuals, periodicals, pieces of artwork and audiovisual items.  Located at the Schenectady County Airport, New York.

Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum – McMinnville, OR (MMV) – Our mission is to inspire and educate, promote and preserve aviation and space history, and honors the patriotic service of our veterans. The Museum and The Water park are 501C3 organizations.

Experimental Breeder Reactor – I  In the 1950’s, there was an attempt to design atom-powered aircraft.  Too heavy and lacking the shielding necessary to protect the pilots, they never got off the ground.  (As far as we know!)  EBR-I is the first atomic reactor to generate electricity.  Two X-39 atomic aircraft engines are on display.  See also Idaho National Labs Experimental Breeder Reactor 1 Museum [pdf].

Flight Of The Phoenix Aviation Museum  Showcases the aircraft and equipment of the armed forces.  In Gilmer, Texas.

Florida Air Museum at Sun ‘n Fun  Displays a rich variety of aircraft and artifacts covering the history of the first 100 years of flight.  Particularly notable is the Howard Hughes aviation archives collection.  Year-round educational programs bring aviation to life.

Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum  This museum houses an inventory of forty historically significant aircraft, with over two-dozen on static display.  Located at MCAS Miramar, open to the public, and free of charge.

Glenn L Martin Maryland Aviation Museum  Covering the history of Maryland aviation, concentrating on the Glenn L Martin Company of Middle River, a primary manufacturer of combat aircraft during both WWI and WWII, and predecessor of the Lockheed Martin Corporation.  The indoor location contains models, photos, and documents.  The outdoor static display area includes ten post-WWII military jet aircraft and a Martin 4-0-4 airliner.

Grissom Air Museum  24 aircraft on display from B-17 to F-105 to A-10, and many others.  This not-for-profit organization is affiliated with the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites, and is located in Peru, Indiana, 60 miles north of Indianapolis, next to Grissom Air Reserve Base.

The Aviation Museum of Kentucky – Lexington, KY (LEX) – Our facility has 20,000 square feet of display area, a fully equipped shop for aviation restoration projects, an office, a library/archive and a gift shop. The Museum is a dynamic entity which includes not only older restored aircraft and memorabilia, but also air-worthy, flyable aircraft for the public to enjoy.

The Commemorative Air Force  This organization includes the American Airpower Heritage Museum with an archival collection of more than 50,000 World War II artifacts, and the American Airpower Heritage Flying Museum which preserves and maintains about 130 aircraft.

The Cradle of Aviation Museum  Located in Nassau County, Long Island, New York at Mitchel Field.

The Evergreen Aviation Museum  A 121,000 square foot facility in McMinnville, Oregon, featuring the famous Hughes “Spruce Goose” Flying Boat, an SR-71, a 1903 Wright Flyer replica, a C-130 cargo plane, a B-17, quite a few fighters and trainers, and general aviation and other aircraft.

The Fleet Air Arm Museum  The museum is located on the B3151 just off the A303 and A37.

The Flying Heritage Collection  Rare treasures of 20th-century military aviation in Arlington, Washington, about 20 miles from the Future of Flight.  The collection is owned by Paul Allen of Microsoft fame.

The Helicopter Museum  The “worlds largest dedicated Helicopter Museum,” located on the South West Coast of England at Weston-Super-Mare.

The Indian Air Force Museum  Pictures, mementoes, souvenirs, models, and aircraft.  Located at the Palam Air Force Station, on the outer suburbs of New Delhi.

The Iowa Aviation Museum  Celebrating Iowa’s aviation heritage with memorabilia and photographs, eleven civil aircraft on display, including some rare examples of early flying machines from the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s, and two military aircraft, an A-7 Corsair jet and a Huey Cobra helicopter.

The Iowa Military Aviation Museum  Established to honor the Iowa men, women, and the corporations that have played an important part in Military and Iowa aviation throughout history.  Historical aircraft, artifacts, and history at the Ankeny Regional Airport.

The McChord Air Museum  The official USAF organization whose mission is to portray the history of McChord Air Force Base.  Aircraft and scaled model exhibits, unit exhibits, collection of weapons, instruments, paintings and art from the USAF art collection, photographs, vintage uniforms and other memorabilia.  Located on McChord Air Force Base near Tacoma WA.  Site includes an extensive list of links to U.S. Air Force museums and other aviation museums.

The Memorial Flight  A non-profit organisation which aims to preserve French and European aeronautical heritage, mainly centered on the First World War period.  Restoration to flying condition of an original SPAD XIII C1.  Current flyable aeroplanes include a Fokker DR-I reproduction, an original Morane AI type XXIX, a Dassault MD311 Flamant, and a reproduction Blériot XI².  Other projects include an RAF SE5a and the static restoration of the historic “Point d’Interrogation” on behalf of the Musée de l’Air.  French site.

The Moorabbin Air Museum  Australian national aviation museum.

The Museum of Army Flying  Celebrating over one hundred years of army aviation, this award-winning museum is home to one of the country’s finest historical collections of military kites, gliders, aeroplanes and helicopters.  There are over 35 helicopters and fixed wing aircraft to see at the museum including the largest collection of military gliders in Europe.  The Museum is situated on the A343 between Andover and Salisbury.

The Museum of Berkshire Aviation  A collection of aircraft and photgraphs recalling Berkshire’s aviation heritage.  Located at the historic site of Woodley Airfield, near Reading, U.K.

The Museum of Flight  This Seattle collection of aerospace artifacts is the largest and most comprehensive in the western United States, they say.

The National Aviation and Space Exploration Wall of Honor  A permanent memorial built at the National Air and Space Museum facility at Washington Dulles International Airport and dedicated to honoring all men and women who have had a passion for flight.  You are invited to place your name or the names of family members or friends who contributed to U.S. aviation and space exploration heritage.

The Royal Air Force Museum  Royal Air Force Museum London is situated on the historic site of the London Aerodrome and houses over 100 aircraft from around the world.  Royal Air Force Museum Cosford has one of the largest aviation collections in the UK, with over 70 historic aircraft.

The Shoreham Aircraft Museum  UK museum dedicated to the Battle of Britain, featuring artifacts from German and British aircraft, and display of paintings by aviation artist Geoff Nutkins.

The WASP WWII Museum  Plans to build a world class museum to honor the Women Airforce Service Pilots of WWII (WASP), the first women in history to fly America’s military aircraft, to be built at the site of the only air field in America used exclusively to train women pilots to fly ‘the Army way’–Avenger Field, Sweetwater, TEXAS.

The Yorkshire Air Museum  A unique collection of over 40 internationally recognised aircraft and fascinating displays all combined into a historic site.

USS Hornet Museum  The aircraft carrier USS Hornet participated in World War II and the Apollo 11 manned space mission.  Now peacefully moored at Alameda Point on San Francisco Bay.

Valiant Air Command Warbird Museum & Tico Airshow  An educational museum in Florida dedicated to the preservation of aviation history for future generations.

Vintage Flying Museum  A nonprofit Texas group that is dedicated to the restoration, preservation of historical aircraft and the eductation of local youth in aviation science and history.

Virginia Aviation Museum  Vintage flying machines, aviation films and lectures, and an SR-71 on permanent display.  Located at the Richmond International Airport in Sandston, Virginia, USA.

WACO Aircraft Museum & Aviation Learning Center  The WACO Historical Society was organized to preserve the history the company and its planes.  In Troy, Ohio.

Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum  WAAAM has one of the largest fleets of air-worthy antique aircraft.  They believe in keeping them flying to peserve our heritage of flight.  Comments or Other Information: Located on the Ken Jernstead Airfield 4S2 in Hood River, Oregon.

Western North Carolina Air Museum  This Hendersonville museum is run by volunteers and offers about 20 vintage aricraft, most of which are airworthy.

Wilmington Aviation Foundation Inc.  A non-profit organization created to promote and develop a museum to enhance knowledge, history and appreciation for the role Wilmington, New Hanover County and Southeastern North Carolina has played in aviation and the defense of the USA.

Wings of History, the Air Museums of Europe  Tells the story of aviation in Europe through the historic aircraft that still exist in museums and collections.

Wings of the North  A non-profit, all-volunteer organization that seeks to preserve and present aviation history.  Located in Eden Prairie, MN, USA.

Yankee Air Museum  Flight experiences April through October on the B-17 Yankee Lady and the B-25 Yankee Warrior.  A non-profit organization.  Willow Run Airport, Michigan.
